WILD PEACE SANCTUARY
HOW TO HELP
To learn more about how you can help, please watch the videos below, and elsewhere on this website, and research organizations such as those listed below. Some groups focus on the rescue and rehabilitation of at-risk wild horses and burros, others focus on raising awareness of how these animals benefit ecosystems when released into wilderness areas. Still others are dedicated to preserving the Indigenous Horse of the Americas, also known as the Pre-Columbian horse or Native horse.
Another focus is on conducting scientific research to explore alternatives to fertility control methods PZP, and GonaCon, both used for population management on public lands and having devastating consequences for the health and genetic viability of the wild herds.

TAKE ACTION
In 2021, the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act, H.R. 3355/S. 2732, was introduced through Congress which proposes to ban the export of horses to be slaughtered for human consumption, and to prohibit the slaughter of horses for human consumption in the United States. If passed, this bill would protect these animals from slaughter. Please consider being a voice for the voiceless on this issue and insist that Congress pass this important piece of legislation.
Tell your senators and representatives to pass the SAFE Act. Give them a call and send a personalized email or letter. You might want to state that you are a constituent and also share why passing the SAFE Act is important to you.
