WORKING WITH NETTLE

Sat, Sep 21, 2024  |  10:30 AM ~ 4:00 PM

Nettle.jpg

Learn all about Stinging Nettle, Urtica Dioica, used for centuries to make cordage and cloth, with land steward, Zeph Mullins, who will guide us through harvesting, processing, and developing a relationship with this special plant. Learn when, where, and how to harvest nettles, and how to work with them as an ancient fiber plant.

Wild Peace Sanctuary founder Lara Lwin Treadaway will share about nettles for food and medicine, and offer some folk and fairy tales about this magical medicinal plant. We will drink mineral rich nettle tea from leaves gathered in the spring harvest.

There will also be an opportunity to meet the Wild Peace herd.

These people have learned not from books, but in the fields, in the wood, on the river bank. Their teachers have been the birds themselves,

when they sang to them, the sun when it left a glow of crimson

behind it at setting, the very trees, and wild herbs.
